Setup Guides
If you go to the FormLizard support page you’ll see we have added industry pages with detailed setup guides for the following groups of users:
Each of these sections has a good write-up on how our customers are setting up and using FormLizard in their organization.
Release 1.10.1 – A few fixes
We have made some improvements and bug fixes to better handle conditionals and to handle account fields through the API interface. We have also made a number of minor changes to the style of the interviews to enhance their appearance.
Be a featured customer!
We are thrilled to see the number of users of FormLizard heading up, up, up. Our customers are from all over the world and use FormLizard for everything from more efficiently running their law firms to registering new students at their school.
We are seeking a few of our customers to showcase on the FormLizard homepage. If you are interested in showing others how you use FormLizard, let me know. It’s a great way to get some publicity for your organization and show that you are on the leading edge of efficiency.

New Pricing
New Pricing – 5 for $5
We have heard from many of you about our pricing. Based on the number of new
subscribers we are seeing, FormLizard is fitting well into many
organizations. However, although we see big companies enjoying our higher
priced plans, we are hearing that many smaller organizations like public
school, non-profits, and small businesses, that also use a large number of
forms, just can’t afford FormLizard. So, to better accommodate our small
organization customers, we are making a dramatic change to our subscription
plans.
Of course, we are keeping the “one form is free” plan (Chameleon). But now
our paid plans start at 5 forms for just $5 with unlimited users and
unlimited usage. Need more than five forms? With the Gila Monster plan you
get 15 forms for just $10 per month. Still need more? Then, go Komodo and
for just $30 per month you get unlimited forms. That’s right, just $30 per
month for unlimited use–upload an unlimited number of forms, have an
unlimited number of users, complete an unlimited number of interviews.
For our current subscribers, when your next billing cycle comes around, you
will automatically see the lower prices reflected in your charge. For more
details on each subscription plan, go here.
Calculated Fields
Sum, Product, Average
Calculated fields let you take end-user input and use it in calculations
where the results show up on your forms. For example, where “Unit Price” is
$3.00 and “Quantity Ordered” is 2, you can create a field called “Total
Price” and $6.00 will appear on the form. There are three types of
calculations supported: sum, product and average. If you are familiar with
the MS Excel functions of the same name, then you already know how these
work. You can use calculated fields inside other calculated fields and even
set the number of decimal places on the output. Add columns of numbers on a
form, calculate average scores, show pricing, or whatever other purposes you
can create. Learn more here.

Here’s what’s new in Release 1.9
Application Programming Interface (API)
Our new developer site with a nicely designed API allows developers to securely bring the power of FormLizard’s online interviews into their applications and websites. What does this mean? Well, it means that end-users who would normally go to a FormLizard domain to complete an interview can now do the same thing from within other applications.
Let’s look at how this might work. Let’s say you have an internal site for use by your employees (an intranet). On this site are your company’s HR forms, like insurance add/change forms and leave request forms. By integrating your intranet to FormLizard, your employees can complete online interviews to fill out the forms and submit them, without ever leaving your internal site.
Here’s another example. You have an internal work flow application that you use to route documents around for reviews and approvals. The start of the review/approval process is a document, like a new account form, a service contract, or a sales proposal. Using the new API, developers can build into the work flow application your FormLizard interviews so users can complete the interviews from within the work flow tool and even capture the completed documents to start the review/approval process.
The same way that FormLizard uses Google Docs’ and RightSignature’s APIs to send documents into those applications, other applications can use FormLizard’s API to complete interviews and retrieve completed documents and data.
New Plan Names
In our continuing efforts to embrace our namesake lizard, we have changed our pricing plan names to reptilian metaphors. Our free plan that we so creatively used to call the “free plan”, is now the Chameleon plan. And the extra large plan, yes, it is now called Komodo Dragon. In between these two super flexible creatures we have Iguanas, Monitor Lizards and Gila Monsters. New names and no price changes.
Changing Chameleon
We really like the idea that people can use the FormLizard free plan (newly named Chameleon) and we want to keep it free. We have had such an overwhelming response though, that we need to do something to afford to continue offering this plan. So, we are going to try some advertising on the interview pages of the Chameleon plan to help offset the cost. There is no advertising on any of the paid plans, nor will there ever be. It’s our first foray into advertising, so let us know what you think. And, if you have a better idea of how we can offset the costs of the free plan, let us know. We have also adjusted some of the plan features available in the Chameleon plan.

FormLizard 1.8 is now live. This is a big release with some very cool features added.
Auto Field Creation: After uploading a tagged document, you can now choose to have FormLizard create all of the associated fields automatically. All fields are created as text fields. Once created, you can change the type at anytime, and add in questions, help and rename the fields. This will save a lot of time when adding new forms and fields.
Auto Distribute: Upon selecting the forms to be associated with an Interview, you can now have FormLizard automatically build the interview. Just select how many questions/fields you want to appear on each page of the online interview.
Box.net file naming change: Now when you export a document to box.net, FormLizard will append to the name the date and time, so that a new document will be created in box.net. Prior to this change, the documents were sent with the same filename and became new versions of prior documents.
Renaming CSV export: We have had some questions about how to export data from FormLizard so that it can be viewed in Excel. The way to do this is choose CSV as the export format. We have renamed “CSV” to “CSV (Excel)” on the export dropdown list, to clarify that the file being downloaded may be opened in Excel.
Gray out Deactivated Interviews: Now, when an interview is deactivated by the Admin, it will appear grayed out in the In Progress and Completed interview queues. If you select it and try to use it, you will get a further warning that the interview is no long available.
Next up on on our release schedule:
- A public API, so other web applications can interact directly with FormLizard
- email notifications of interviews being shared with you, and if you are an Admin, when an end-user has E-Submitted a document.
These enhancements are a direct result of the input we get from our customers. Please let us know what you think about FormLizard and the features you would like to see us add. Thanks.
Best,
Chris.

If you have logged into FormLizard today, you may have noticed that FormLizard now now integrates with box.net. From within FormLizard, you can export your completed documents right into your box.net account.
To use it, first enable box.net exporting by going to the Admin side and mark the checkbox under Preferences indicating you want to allow users to export to their box.net accounts.
Then from the interview side, go to Your Account, and Manage Integrations, and you can link your FormLizard account to your box.net account. When finishing an Interview, you can push the completed document right to box.net.

FormLizard is now integrated with RightSignature, the web application for getting documents signed online. The integration of these two applications provides small and medium-sized businesses and leading global companies a seamless process for online form completion, contract authoring and now, electronic signatures.
RightSignature captures real, handwritten signatures online, replicating the feeling of the pen-and-paper signing experience in an elegant browser interface. With RightSignature, customers are able to sign online in seconds, and a high percentage of contracts are executed immediately. Parties may also create signatures on the iPad or iPhone, using the device’s touchscreen as a signature pad.
“Our integration with RightSignature is a big step forward in eliminating paper from document-driven processes,” said Chris Martoglio, CEO of Blue Burro. “Too many deals and too much time are lost because of the lag between finalizing documents and getting them signed. This integration eliminates that lag.”
Integration with RightSignature means that getting documents signed is as easy as clicking a mouse. Documents for signing can be sent through RightSignature from within FormLizard. Users can even route the document for multiple signatures. This means no more downloading and printing of documents and no more lost time getting signatures.
“FormLizard’s unique technology for turning simple online interviews into completed forms is highly complementary with RightSignature’s leading e-signature application,” said Daryl Bernstein, CEO of RightSignature. “This integration empowers businesses to fulfill a wide variety of custom use cases where parties need to provide information and answer questions in order to complete a form and then apply a legally-binding electronic signature.”
To learn more about this integration, watch this screencast and then sign up for a free trial with FormLizard and RightSignature.

Administrators can enable E-submit by going to Preferences.
RightSignature integration
Send completed documents, such as forms and contracts directly to your RightSignature account. RightSignature, the easiest, fastest way to get documents signed.

New Admin controls

Enhanced end-user interface
The end-user side of FormLizard has been enhanced with graphics and other interface items to provide a better end-user experience.
Bug fixes
We made tons of little fixes. We fixed intermittent issues some users were having with RTF files produced with iWork Pages, some Google Apps integration issues, some issues users were having when accessing with Internet Explorer, and a host of others you likely never came across.
We hope you enjoy this new functionality. FormLizard is growing and is now being used around the world supporting many types of processes and in many different industries. Thanks to all of our customers.
As always, we love to hear from you. Let us know what you think of FormLizard. Thanks.
